GETRO JEAN-CLAUDE, Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority

Getro Jean-Claude is a UT alumni, graduating from the Honors College in 2014, he has been working with Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority as a financial analyst since that time.

Jean-Claude moved to the United States from Haiti in December of 2009. He knows over four languages and is profi cient in Haitian Creole—his native language—Spanish, and French. During his time at UT he was honored with a number of awards including receiving both president and dean’s list honors and the best mentor award two separate times. More recently, Jean-Claude has been honored by the Urban Innovation Exchange National Publication as “People Changing Cities – Urban innovator of the week.”

Jean-Claude is also very involved in nonprofit organizations around Toledo, including starting Toledo CAN (Change A Need) during his time at UT. He has since morphed this organization into a business, where he gives a portion of the revenue to nonprofits as well as assists local nonprofits with photo booth and video services. Jean-Claude said that he hopes to live the meaning of his first name, “remarkable.”
