2019 Recipients

NATALIE LANESE, Natalie Lanese, LLC

Natalie Lanese is an artist and educator – exhibiting her work nationally and internationally – working primarily in painting, installation, and collage. She has exhibited at the Akron Art Museum, the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, MOCA Tuscon, and at the SPACE Gallery and has installed permanent public artworks in Toledo, Cincinnati, and San Diego, to name a few.

Lanese studied at Xavier University, Case Western Reserve University, and the Cleveland Institute of Art before earning a Master of fine arts degree from Pratt University. During her career, she served as the lead painter with Graphite Design + Build for the ProMedica Museum of Natural History at the Toledo Zoo; co-founded AGENCY, a collective of women artists in Toledo; and has been the recipient of a range of awards and residencies while exhibiting her work, among other achievements.

In the community, Lanese served on the team developing “Color My Court,” a project to beautify public basketball courts in Toledo; participated in the Art Loop as an individual artist and ambassador for Graphite Design + Build; and co-organized and designed a house board-up project in the OWENI neighborhood, to name a few.
