STEVE SWAGGERTY, Sylvania City Schools

Steve Swaggerty is the principal at Sylvania Northview High School. In this role, he established the NV Leadership Academy, a personal growth program centered on character development and leadership skill building. He also established Camp Creatives to encourage continued learning for students over the summer, an ACT prep course, peer tutoring programs, and structured after school help for at-risk students. He started a Class Olympics to help bring students together, and expanded AP offerings with an honors STEM research course.

As the principal at Northview, Swaggerty has been recognized as the Ohio Thespian Society Administrator of the Year in 2015, and earned the High Schools That Work Platinum Award twice in 2012 and 2014, which is the top honor given nationally. In 2015, Sylvania Northview was named to Newsweek’s top 500 College Prep High Schools.

Swaggerty is also a Sylvania Rotarian and a Sylvania Rotary Foundation board member.
