KATE SOMMERFELD, ProMedica

Kate Sommerfeld is the president, social determinants of health, for ProMedica where she is responsible for shaping ProMedica’s work in the social determinants of health to improve the health of patients and communities. She is responsible for ProMedica’s work in the community including a $50 million neighborhood revitalization effort, and led the team responsible for opening ProMedica’s Financial Opportunity Center, and more.

Sommerfeld has a bachelor’s of arts degrees in political science and child psychology from Purdue University and earned her MPA from BGSU. She was recognized with the BGSU MPA Distinguished Alumni Award and the Friend of the Office, Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Award from BGSU.

She is active in the community and serves on a range of organizations in the area, including on the board of directors for Toledo Lucas County Homelessness, on the advisory board of Medical-Legal Partnership for Children, on the public policy advisory board of Voice for Ohio’s Children, and on the Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio, Healthy Lucas County, among others.
