2019 Recipients

RYAN MACK, Defiance County

Ryan Mack, elected to the Board of Defiance County Commissioners at 30 years old, has started a campaign in the county for better rural access to connectivity and to improve precision agriculture in the region, worked with fellow Commissioners on the planning and restoration of the Defiance County Courthouse, and is a founding board member of the Ohio, Michigan, Indiana (OMI) Regional Council of Governments.

Mack attended Kent State University through his junior year before leaving to enlist in the United States Army. He served six and a half years in the Army until he was medically retired for injuries received during the Battle of Marjah. He received a Purple Heart and Service to Veterans Award for his service and has since completed his degree at Defiance College.

In the community, he serves as a board member for the Community Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio (CCNO); serves as an executive board member of the Defiance Community Improvement Corporation; serves as the board president of the Four County Solid Waste District; and is a volunteer for the Defiance County Mentoring Program, to name a few.
