STEPHEN BATES, Toledo Police Department
Stephen Bates works as a field training officer for the Toledo Police Department (TPD). In addition to his six years in this role, he also serves as a TPD crisis intervention trained team member and as a member of the Chief of Police’s Ignite Team.
Bates also served eight years with the US Army as an infantryman, where he served his country during Operation Noble Eagle, Hurricane Katrina Relief, and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He received a range of letters of recognition and medals for his military achievements.
Bates is also a graduate of the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science in organizational security and management, and most recently graduated from the Toledo Police Academy in 2013. Since joining TPD, he has received recognition several times for exceptional performance.
Bates serves the community as an active volunteer with TPD and as the manager for the Toledo Police hockey team which supports local non-profits including the Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center, the Ability Center, and Leadership Toledo, among others.
