SHANNON BOVA, Sunshine Communities

Shannon Bova is the vice president of donor relations for Sunshine Communities, leading a donor relations team in 2019 that raised nearly $2 million – the largest annual fund raised in the organization’s 70-year history. In addition, she created the Sunshine Circle and Sunshine’s Annual Giving Society.

After having her son eight years ago, who was born with significant heart and lung disease and also suffers from developmental disabilities, she founded the non-profit Mended Little Hearts (MLH) of Northwest Ohio. She is currently working with Project ADAM to create heart-safe designated schools in Toledo by assisting them in establishing emergency plans in the event that a sudden cardiac arrest takes place in school.

Bova is the president-elect and a board member for the Downtown Toledo Kiwanis Club and is also a mayor-appointed member of the Toledo-Lucas County Committee on Disabilities and sits on the information committee, which works to make Toledo and the surrounding communities a more inclusive environment for all people with disabilities.

Bova earned her undergrad degree from Bowling Green State University (BGSU).
