TIMOTHY EFFLER, Ohio Attorney General’s Office

Timothy Effler is the Assistant Attorney General (AAG) serving with the Consumer Protection Section of the Ohio Attorney General’s office. As an AAG, Effler works to protect Ohio’s consumers and businesses by ensuring a safe and strong marketplace through the enforcement of consumer laws.

Effler earned his undergrad degree at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) and went to graduate school at The University of Toledo (UToledo) College of Law. He began his career working as a public defender in Lucas County, and in 2016, became the managing attorney of the Juvenile Public Defender Division. In 2019, he was elected president of Lucas County Bar Association, and was also elected to the board of directors of the Toledo Bar Association.

Effler has spent his entire career focused on community growth and community service. For over a decade, he worked with the Lucas County Juvenile Court and the executive committee to develop and institute programs designed to provide education and reduce recidivism in younger individuals. As the managing public defender in Juvenile Court, he trained new attorneys and worked to develop legal training programs for both attorneys and community members.
