Carly Salamone is the director, Northwest Ohio Pathways HUB, for the Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio, where she has brought in nearly $20 million in grant funding to address housing insecurity, transportation, and healthcare access to reduce infant mortality and chronic disease in Lucas County and across northwest Ohio; grew the Northwest Ohio Pathways HUB from serving 97 women in 2011, to 1,700 residents in 2020; and created the Baby and Me Ride Free program, which has provided over 2,000 families access to TARTA/TARPs services at no cost, among others.

Salamone graduated from The University of Toledo (UToledo) with her Bachelor’s degree in public health, and her Master’s in public health from the former Northwest Ohio Consortium for Public Health, which was a joint effort of UToledo and BGSU. She has dedicated the last decade of her life to educating about health disparities on the local and national stage, and helping all babies in Lucas County reach their first birthday.

In the community, Salamone was the co-lead for Getting to 1, Toledo-Lucas County’s infant mortality prevention coalition; is a member of Healthy Lucas County, a collaboration of community organizations working to improve the health of all residents in Lucas County; a former member of the City of Toledo Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) Citizens Review Committee; serves on the Lucas County Community Health Improvement Planning Committee; and serves on various State and national committees working to improve the health and reduce health disparities of all moms and babies.
