AIMEE REID
Children’s Theatre Workshop of Toledo
Aimee Reid has been the Executive Artistic Director of the Children’s Theatre Workshop of Toledo since 2012 when she was 26 years old and a full-time professor of theatre at BGSU. She has grown the CTW program from 175 students and five plays to over 500 students and ten plays a year. The annual budget in 2012 was $85,000. Today it is a $450,000 organization with an outreach program with Toledo Public Schools and Washington Local Schools. In 2020 under her leadership, CTW purchased the historic Ohio Theatre and in 2022 received a $2.5 million grant through Marcy Kaptur. This past summer 300 students attended in-house camps. As a result of work to reduce financial barriers to theatre arts participants, in 2022 CTW received the NW Ohio Excellence Award for Strategic Action and became an Ohio ACE vendor which has resulted in over $18,000 in scholarships and vouchers for theatre programs.
In the community, Reid serves on the board of directors for the Village Players and volunteers by procuring grants, performing, and producing productions. She also serves on the boards of Talespinner Children’s Theatre in Cleveland and the American Alliance for Theatre and Education. She received the Ann Elgood Youth Theatre Director of the Year from the American Alliance for Theatre and Education in 2018. In 2022, she received the Ohio Community Theatre Association’s highest award for excellence for her acting role in “Alabaster.”
Reid received her bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University and her master’s degree from Arizona State University.
