ADAM JOSEPH MOTYCKA

Adam Joseph Motycka, Assistant General Counsel at the University of Toledo, began his career clerking for the Honorable Mary Ann Whipple and the Honorable John P. Gustafson in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. He then worked in the private law firm of Diller and Rice where he concentrated on areas of bankruptcy and insolvency where he was the youngest debtor’s attorney and one of the first and youngest to successfully guide a debtor through a Subchapter V business bankruptcy in Ohio. Motycka was admitted to the Ohio and Michigan Bars, and the federal Northern District of Ohio District and Bankruptcy Courts where he served on the Court’s Attorney Constituent Group which provides practice input to judges in the district and plans CLE events for bankruptcy practitioners. He currently provides legal counsel to the University of Toledo as an Assistant General Counsel.
In the community, Motycka serves as Board President of the Toledo Public Schools Foundation, on the City of Maumee Zoning Appeals Board, and the Leadership Toledo Board. He is a City of Maumee Municipal Planning Commissioner and plays an active role in the City of Maumee Master Plan Commission. He volunteers his time as a board member of the University of Toledo’s Sigma Phi Epsilon Alumni Board. Motycka received the C. Maynard Turner Award for distinguished service as a National Director while serving on the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity Board.
Motycka is a graduate of both the University of Toledo College of Business Administration, and the College of Law.
