ANNA TONEY

Leadership Toledo

Anna Toney is a 2012 Leadership Toledo alum and became the third Executive Director in the organization’s 40+ year history in 2017. Her mission is to teach the importance of leading through service, to inspire community involvement and highlight Toledo as a special place. Under her leadership, LT received the “Nonprofit Innovation and Excellence Award” from the Center of Non-profit Resources/Greater Toledo Community Foundation and the LT Youth Philanthropy Program was recognized at the National Philanthropy Day awards program. An expanded “Restaurant Week Toledo,” the area’s largest food event, has raised nearly $1 million for the organization over 14 years. In the past two years, she has launched two new LT programs to bring the total to five. 

An active community leader, Toney sits on the Board of Directors of The Valentine Theatre, Beverly Elementary School PTO serving as President, and Notre Dame Academy. Past involvement includes EPIC/Aly Sterling Board Member Accelerator Series, Vistage Emerging Leaders, Notre Dame Advancement Committee, the organization of Toledo Plus One initiative to support restaurants and front-line heroes during COVID, and Adult Moderator for Summerstock Toledo. Through LT, she has participated in a multitude of group volunteer activities supporting local non-profit organizations. 

In 2020 she was highlighted in Toledo Region’s “Limelight Series,” was a featured guest on Brad Rieger’s “In the Arena” podcast, and was a presenter at Toledo Lucas County Public Library’s “You Will Do Better in Toledo” series in 2023. In 2024 she was a judge for the National Exchange Club Scholarship Awards. Her speaking engagements include the Maumee Chamber, Maumee Rotary, and Archbold Rotary. 

Toney is a graduate of Indiana University and earned a master’s in organizational leadership from Lourdes University.
