JOSE ROSALES, academic advisor at the University of Toledo, US Marine Corp combat engineer

As the director of educational affairs at the University of Toledo, Jose Rosales helped to increase the scholarship dollars awarded from $3,000 in 2013 to $10,000 in 2015. He is a Ph.D candidate in the educational theory and social foundations program. He was nominated for advisor of the year for outstanding work as the campus advisor for the Latino Student Union at UT and received the Shining Star Award given to outstanding faculty.

In the Marine Corps, Rosales recently served as joint operations chief for the Innovative Readiness Training program through the Department of Defense, providing leadership for over 300 personnel during the summer of 2015, where the mission included the construction of staff cabins, an ADA-compliant pedestrian bridge, and a new dining facility for the Boy Scouts of America.
